Undecided but soon...

I'm going back to a sleep schedule soon. Whether it will be biphasic, equaliphasic or hexaphasic, I don't know yet. I'll update soon.

Monophasic

So I've been monophasic for a little more than week now and I don't think I'm going back. I want to try a different schedule, a biphasic schedule would be easier and has empirical evidence of being healthy.

Absolutely Dissipointed(Week 9?)

So after still not finding any jobs suitable for a polyphaser I lost will power and have been monophasic for 4 days. I can't believe I used to do this everyday for nearly my whole life, I feel like crap actually and sleep around 9-12 hours. I can't seem to wake myself up after a normal sleep and as a result have some pretty enjoyable dreams but I feel more unproductive than ever. I'm not sure if its the end for my sleep schedule, I felt so much healthier when I was able to stay on schedule. I'm not sure yet if this is the end but I am considering it, but even if I did end it I would come back to it due to the very apparent health benefits. I really do think I was healthier but I think other people may not feel such benefits.

Meh....(Weeks 7 and 8)

Well its been two months and I'm not adjusting. I'm not saying the sleep schedule doesn't work but adhering to the schedule has been very difficult. Napping helps and has helped my health tremendously but its the falling asleep part that seems to escape me. I don't know how much longer the experiment will go, I need a job but there's seems to be nothing in my town or anything real online. I want to keep going, I'm still learning bass, guitar, violin and piano and if I give up my schedule I don't know if I'll ever master them all. Despite my difficulties my slightly adjusted schedule does seem to work better. I may have to go on break from my sleep schedule when the semester is over, I don't know how my school schedule will look then, it may come sooner if I can't find a job, Hurray for this economy...

New Schedule (Week Six)

Well I finally decided to move more core sleep from 12-1:30 to 5:30-7 which would help me not oversleep because I have an easier time waking up in the morning. Other than the changing weather making my drowsy, last week wasn't bad but not on schedule so it seemed a change was in order. I also decided to learn bass as well, making 4 instruments at once, not surprising guitar and bass are quite easy and I'm already quickly making progress. Oh yea, since the start of last week my dreams have been becoming increasingly vivid and frequent. Sometimes when weather changes I get unusual dreams but with 4 chances a day its so much crazier and make the days almost twice as long.

No more gradual method(Week 5)

I was convinced since the first week when adjusting was taking it's toll that I would do a gradual step down into 3 hours of sleep. This worked sometimes with a wide varying amount of sleep, I've gotten 3 hours, the usual 6 hours and the rare and always disappointing 12 hour hibernations(I've had 2). This week was so so up until a 12 hour sleep that left me in both physical and emotional distress, it was actually the worst I've felt in my whole time of being polyphasic. It was after this that I decided to be much more vigilant about my schedule which I've taken too many liberties with. No more improvising, at least until I'm adjusted.

Seasonal Changes(Week 4)

This week was by far the worst week for my sleep schedule I've endured so far. Fall seems to be coming a little sooner this year and between being off schedule and crappy weather, I had a couple monophasic days. Though today was good and nearly on schedule it was the only day which resembled my schedule. I'm not satisfied on giving up now especially after realizing that my Fibromyalgia may improve as I used to feel the effects of it predominately in the morning(which included general pain, nausea, and sometimes problems with memory). That's good and all but I still need to find a job to support this lifestyle...

Half Adjusted(Day 18 to 21)

Well though during the day I feel more rested than I normally ever do and just feel good this doesn't take away the fact that when it comes to my core I still haven't adjusted, I think I got 8 hours of sleep in the past 24 hours. Three weeks, I should be more than half adjusted by now but I still can't oversleeping.

Regressed(Day 17-18)

My vacation wore me down much more than I expected and at this point more than two weeks after starting I still haven't gotten down to the planned 3 hours. I'm still hovering around the 6 hour mark, I have absolutely no intention of giving this up anytime soon especially considering I have already seen results. I may have to make changes in my diet and habits to make 3 hours possible.

Vacation(Day 11 to Day 16)

Though I was able to more than I normally would on a vacation it caused me to miss many naps reducing me to biphasic sleep. I have since come back and am back to sleeping at the scheduled times accurately so far.

Feeling even better(day 8-10)

I've decided to stop posting my recorded times of sleep because the indeterminate time that I didn't think I slept but can't account for. Dreams have become very vivid, this makes me want to sleep more and is probably preventing me from reaching the 3 hours a day goal. Reality is that I'm still getting about 5 hours but feel very rested. I do expect to be down to 3 hours and be adjusted in two weeks. Tomorrow I go on vacation to Point Beach, this makes me nervous because I don't know what I'm gonna do at 3AM in a small house 8 miles away from the closest city. I wish didn't enjoy dreams so much.

Adapting to the wrong schedule(Day 6 and 7)

This week I've been getting at least 2 hours than I used to get but now I'm getting used to that, but the plan is only sleep 3 hours but have been living on 5-7 hours. The effects from the sleep deprivation are apparent as the walls looking wavy and seeing big patches of brightness are the norm. This increase in time however has allowed me to take back up yoga and boxing, and has allowed me to start leaning piano and violin and the next endeavors are Spanish and Japanese(but not quite yet).

A morning of Confusion(Day 5)

So I went to sleep to do my 12:00-1:30AM core sleep but instead passed back out at 1:30, 3, 6 and finally right before 9. This cluster of naps which the times of rest are nothing but hazy but it seems like I got up at some points of the night and did something, but I don't know. I still haven't been able to to fully incorporate exercise into my schedule, without getting the schedule spot on I've noticed various mental effects but very few physical effects.

Very frustrating, Day 3 and 4

Day 3
  • 3:00-4:00
  • 9:00-10:00
  • 3:00-5:10
Day 4(so far)
  • 12:00-1:30
  • 6:50-11:50
My problem has been getting to sleep on time and over sleeping I think these are problems that would be remedied by exercise, I haven't even gotten fully into my schedule but this is already pretty crazy. The whole being sleep deprived thing is kind of a different experience, patterns keep moving, time keeps moving, but I can't seem to keep up, I really hope tomorrow is different.

Day 1 and beginning of Day 2

The first day was pretty long and wasn't even on schedule, the second day has already been majorly flawed but its best to just keep with the schedule and do this, the payoff is just too great to stop.

Day 1(3H 15M)
  • 1:45-5:00AM
  • 11:55-12:30PM
  • 6:20-6:40PM
Day 2(7H)
  • 12:30-1:30AM
  • 6:00-12:00PM

Day 1

My core sleep started late and too long but wasn't disappointing because I slept from 1:50-5:00. This is just the start of my sleep schedule and I do expect slip ups. Well I still have plenty more time than I normally do already so here is some stuff I'm keeping myself busy with...(written after core nap)

Starting...

Alright, I love dreaming and sleeping doubly so. Unfortunately this love of sleep makes me just hibernate, why sit around tired when you can be dreaming. I slept from 1:30AM to 10:40AM and though I enjoy sleep, I was nearly late for work. Actually it was my last day of work at Ponderosa and it is for this reason, I am deciding to sleep efficiently. The sleep schedule that I am planning to do is the Everyman which is 3 hours of sleep as opposed to the Uberman schedule which would be 2 hours. If I can hold this schedule I may settle on 2 hours of sleep.
This is my schedule...
12:00-1:30AM (core sleep)
6:00-6:30AM
12:30-1:00PM
6:00-6:30PM
My endeavor begins at 12:00 tonight....
